Why Can’t Movies Show “Medieval” Sword Fights Accurately? (cringy rant)

There's a good reason why pedantic historians and enthusiastic students never cease to ask...

Remember: Reading one hour per day in your chosen field will make you an international expert in 7 years!

Do you love realistic medieval fantasy books?

I have a new fantasy book coming out soon! Click here and scroll down to the newsletter form to subscribe to my book launch newsletter and be one of the first to know when it’s released.

Note: When reading this blog and enjoying the cringy moments please keep in mind that a lot of the posts here are 10 years old or more and may not reflect my current state of thought. Also, please never use some nerd’s blog as an academic source. Have a wonderful time in the Medieverse!

My stance on AI generated content: I vow to never use AI to write or edit my books and fictional writings. I never have and I never will use AI to write a novel or any piece of fiction with the intent of selling it, because I believe the beauty in fictional writing lies heavily on the human experience and our flaws. If I found out that the book I was enjoying was written by AI, I’d stop reading it immediately. I vow to never use AI to create a book cover or interior story illustration, as I wish to support human talent when sharing the human experience through story. However, I will and do use AI to generate images for my blog and social media (where before I’d typically use stock photos), as well as for marketing materials and tasks that don’t alter the essence of my art such as optimizing book synopses, formatting, and non-fiction editing.
