How this new “Spotify for books” flexes on traditional e-books | Lex-Books.com

With Spotify you can listen to eBooks, but you can’t also browse and read millions of free e-books at the same time. That’s where Lex Reader comes in!

When I’m searching for historical references to put a social media post together or when I’m simply satisfying my fascination about some obscure topic, I’ve been using Lex as a new tool in my kit because I can now do in a few short clicks what used to require multiple tabs open.

4 reasons Lex flexes on traditional eBook platforms:

The digital library interface Lex-books.com showcasing the title 'The Travels of Marco Polo - Volume 1' with a blue cover illustration, categorized under adventure, medieval history, and travel writing, along with options to search, filter, and sort books.

Lex truly is like the Spotify for public domain e-books.

In just a few short clicks, all on one tab, I can now (1) search through millions of free e-books to find any related to my topic and then search for specific terms within those books (2) listen to one of thousands of free audiobooks while I continue to browse and read other e-books (3) copy a quote with a reference to the book already attached (4) seamlessly translate millions of e-books in up to 21 languages.

For me those are the 4 key reasons why I recommend Lex to readers and historians, but you may find other features useful as well.

The quote image generator is my favorite. I can highlight a group of text in any book and copy it as an image with a pre-attached citation. This makes it fast and easy for social media influencers to post professional-looking quote images on the go, as shown here:

Is Lex really legit?

Before you think about the referral link that I’m inevitably going to paste here for you get 15% off a premium subscription, just know that even as a completely free tool Lex is totally legit. In fact, it’s the best platform I’ve ever used for finding and reading free e-books (downloads optional, can read right in my browser, app available).

Any book in the public domain that isn’t on Lex can be uploaded by the community, and books are constantly being added. Authors and publishers can even upload their own e-books and audiobooks for free, so that those books can be accessed for free by the world and also easily discoverable in a public database.

After my experience with it, I’m not scared to say that Lex has already taken the cake for becoming the official Spotify for books that millions of readers will use. Lex is already used by thousands of readers after only a few months of being released.

A list of premium benefits showcasing features like personal reading companion, automatic translations, bilingual mode, PDF to EPUB conversion, speed reading option, higher upload limits, and a verified badge.

I’ve chatted with Lex’s creator, David from the YouTube history channel Empire Builders, and I can tell he’s truly passionate about making books more accessible. I’m proud to help support his project because I think his vision is beautiful. Whether it’s popular titles like Moby-Dick or more obscure reads like The Art of War in the Middle Ages, millions of books can now be accessed world-wide in 21 languages for FREE at lex-books.com, and this is just the beginning.
