My Spiritual Law for Understanding Fate

This is the law that I have created for myself: “It will be as it shalt, but thou makes it so.

To me this means what the Muslim scholars call “maktub” or “it is written.” The fate of things is settled, but this still doesn’t mean that one doesn’t control their fate. For example, how can you say it’s someone’s fate to be super successful without acknowledging the fact that they pushed themselves with extraordinary discipline to work twelve-hour days for thirty years straight?
